You’ve recorded a great song!
Now what?

Some of the best songs and musicians will probably never be heard. Even in today’s digital market reaching mass audiences is a partnership with media professionals that more than likely do not know your music exists. That’s where Song Plugger Guru can help.

Media industry professionals are swamped with new music submissions. Our gurus will work with you to make sure that your submission stands out. It’s important to make sure you have obtained the proper permissions and ISRC for your song. If not, see our Guru Tips page. Follow the steps below to guide you through our process.

1.  Cloud Storage

Save your files in Dropbox or Google Drive. Only save the files in this folder for your submission. Name the folder “artist name – song title”

2.  Music Files

Make duplicate files of your mastered, broadcast ready wav and Mp3 files and save in your new in the folder. Be sure to use the same naming convention: “artist name – song title”

3. Cover Art

Create a 1600 x 1600 pixel graphic of your song and save as a jpeg. Canva is a good resource. Do NOT use copyrighted material.  Save it to your folder using this naming convention: “artist name – song title – cover art.jpg”

4. Bio

Write a compelling bio about yourself in the third-person. Keep it brief but informative. Check out our Guru Tips about how to write a bio.

5.  EPK

You may already have an Electronic Press Kit on your website.  If you don’t have an EPK, create one, but also create a print version.   This is an important file that is a quick overview about you, your music, career highlights, and photos.  Save file as a PDF or jpg and name it “artist name – EPK”

6.  Photos

If you have photos, highly recommended, include two to three in the folder. Make sure they do not have text or any other graphics on the photo. Media outlets like them clean.  Save as a jpeg and name them “artist name 1”, “artist name 2”.

Submission

Once you have all of the media collateral above saved into Dropbox or Google Drive share a link to that folder in the checkout form. Be sure that the proper permissions have been set for access. This will be the link distributed to our list of media professionals.

Our gurus will review your files and make suggestions for improvement, if necessary. Once your media is ready we will create the proper distribution list and send your submission.  The best practice is to give media outlets at least 3 – 4 weeks to review your submission. The sooner you get your files to us the more time we will have to work on your submission to get it ready.
